It's cafes like this that make West End the eclectic niche suburb that it is. This little gem is the definition of a true local and is my go to Sunday morning haunt of choice. It embodies everything I could want from a cafe, it is unpretentious and all about the coffee. The proprietor Justine always has a warm greeting and time for a quick chat making you feel instantly at home. The food is simple but delicious; and last but by no means least, the coffee is superb.
The coffee beans are sourced from Stefano Manfredi in Sydney and give a beautiful dark rich caramel coloured crema. The flavour is expertly extracted to deliver a warm full bodied flavour that we enjoyed enough to have another. As mentioned in previous articles our default order is a double shot, we do this for two reasons. One, we love strong coffee and Two, its a great acid test to determine the quality of the bean and its barista. When the coffee is strong it can easily take on a clawing astringent taste, and if the milk protiens are not heated properly the milks bead is too large and does not give the coffee the cushioning creaminess it needs. None of these finer points are lost here at Posto. Keep it up guys.
